Public Gardens and Landcape Tours - Garden Walks
Every gardener knows that gardens are a lot of work. The flowers, trees, bushes, shrubs, grass, and other plants that make up the typical home garden landscape don't just grow by themselves; they need steady cultivation. That's what makes visiting a public garden or horticultural center so pleasurable. As visitors, we can tour the landscaped grounds and enjoy all of the fruits of their carefully-crafted gardens without having to do any of the difficult gardening labor ourselves. Plus, we may well find inspiration and ideas for how to improve our own gardens at home. Click on the map below or browse through our geographic categories to find great public and private garden walks and tours at horticultural and botanical centers for you to enjoy, anywhere around the world. From rose gardens to arboretums, we have it all. You can also add your favorite garden walk to our expansive list and tell us why you love it so much.
  • Stanley Park (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
    • If you come to Vancouver, you must visit the city’s vibrant Stanley Park. Named for a former governor-general of Canada, the vast parkland was established in 1886 and opened to the public in 1888. Worldwide there are few park settings to rival this beautiful urban oasis. Occupying 1,000 acres on a spectacular peninsula setting, Stanley Park offers a wealth of recreational activities as well as a treasure trove for the garden traveler. For a colorful respite during your tour of the park, observe the Ted and Mary Greig Rhododendron Garden’s bounteous spring display (near the pitch and putt golf course). Late spring also heralds stunning displays of azaleas, together with flowering cherry and plum trees.
